Acceptable Use Policy
Last reviewed: 25 May 2026.
DigitalWTN is a regulatory tool for UK waste-handling businesses. The integrity of the WTN data flowing through it matters to your counterparties, to the receiving site, and to the regulator. The rules below exist to keep that integrity intact.
What you must not do
- Falsify WTN data. Do not enter producer names, waste classifications, quantities, container types, signatures, or photographs that you know to be incorrect.
- Impersonate another organisation. The role-specific identifier you provide at signup (EA carrier registration, environmental permit, premises code) must be yours.
- Submit hazardous waste mislabelled as non-hazardous (or vice versa).
- Scrape, probe, or attempt to enumerateother organisations’ accounts, permits, or WTNs. Our rate limits and audit ledger will flag this.
- Attempt to bypass our security controls, including authentication, rate limiting, or storage policies.
- Use the service to send unsolicited marketing to receivers or producers via the in-app sharing flow.
- Resell or sublicense the service without our written agreement.
- Use the service to upload illegal content, including but not limited to: child sexual abuse material; copyrighted material you do not own; malware.
What we will do if you breach this policy
- For minor or accidental breaches, we will contact you to fix it.
- For deliberate or repeated breaches, we will suspend or terminate your account without refund (when paid plans exist).
- For breaches that may amount to a criminal offence or that threaten the integrity of waste-transfer records, we will cooperate with the Environment Agency, Defra, or the police as appropriate.
Reporting abuse
If you suspect another DigitalWTN account is being misused, email abuse@digitalwtn.co.uk with the WTN UMR or account email if you have one. We will investigate within 5 working days.
